We live in a sterile age, an age where there is really scant cause for fear. Generally, I suppose it’s good that we don’t have to spend most of every day concerned with the simple act of continuing to exist. We get to focus our energies on productive things: reading, writing, masturbation, etc. Somewhere along the way though, a threshold was crossed, and now fear is a concept totally lost on hoi polloi.
Nowhere is this more present than in individuals who ride their skateboards or bikes in the middle of busy thoroughfares, oblivious to or worse, challenging, the multi-ton vehicles whom said thoroughfares were created for, and pedestrians who will cross against the light as you’re hurtling towards them, possessing a green light, and will stare at your car while doing so.
What I propose is a re-education. An ‘all bets are off’ day, in which the rules, courtesies and logic of the road reigns supreme, where if a skateboarder is taking up the entirety of a street whilst going two miles an hour, he can be run over sans penalty. You get the idea.
Just because it’s technically illegal to hit you doesn’t mean you’re not an asshole, and it doesn’t mean that I can’t decide to kill you on a whim. I’d like to see how brazen these fucks would be if that ‘technically illegal’ part ceased to be.
